However, 15 of the 64 residents have not yet been able to find provisional accommodation. On Wednesday, directors of Caritas met with the Ministry of Family Affairs to find a solution to this pressing issue, as the renovation cannot progress before it is resolved.
Caritas' Andreas Vogt said the works could take place straight away as soon as the remaining residents are rehoused, but also explained they were currently in discussions with the Ministry regarding a full renovation of the shelter rather than just maintenance work.
Once discussions conclude with the Ministry of Family Affairs, Caritas will begin discussions with the Minister of Public Buildings to see what work can be done and for how long.
The majority of residents in Centre Ulysse have found new lodgings in a new shelter in Findel. The new "Wanteraktioun" winter night shelter in Bonnevoie, however, is not yet complete, and the old shelter is no longer able to be used.
