According to Trier police, a routine check revealed that the boy had travelled from Luxembourg and had run away from the State Socio-Educational Centre (CEES) in Dreiborn in mid-October.
Following discussions, the teenager was handed over to Luxembourg police at the border near Wasserbilligerbrück on Friday afternoon.
