"Assuring continuity in change" - with this slogan, the Greens held a press conference on Tuesday morning.

After the secretary of state Camille Gira unexpectedly passed away on 16 May, his political party announced his successor on Tuesday morning.

Camille Gira was not only secretary of state, but also the leading candidate for the Greens in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

As a leading candidate, he ran with the co-president of the Greens, Françoise Folmer in the northern constituency.

It has just been announced that Claude Turmes will inherit Gira's ambitious legacy and become the new secretary of state to the ministry of the environment.

Turmes is currently an MP in the European Parliament. Former Weiler mayor Tilly Metz will take Turmes' place in Brussels.

Claude Turmes will also take Camille Gira's place as a leading candidate for the upcoming October elections in the northern constituency.
