The usually-busy traffic around the capital has been exacerbated by a number of accidents reported at around 8am on Thursday morning. The first pile-up occurred on the A13 towards Esch-sur-Alzette.
Four cars were involved in a crash near the Ehlerange exit, blocking the main lane and causing traffic to slow down.
On the A1 towards Luxembourg two cars collided, blocking the overtaking lane for some time. In the other direction, a lorry and a car crashed, blocking the right-hand lane between Hamm and Kirchberg.
By 9am, traffic disruptions were getting worse, causing 11 kilometres of tailbacks through to the A6 motorway. Additionally, motorists are advised to drive carefully due to bad visibility conditions.
