From 7 July, ten out of the 20 bus routes serving Luxembourg’s industrial zones will be suspended, and instead integrated into the nationwide RGTR bus network.

The change will affect around 450 employees from a number of businesses, who used the designated bus services to travel to and from work in various industrial zones around the country.

The plan to scrap selected bus routes to save costs was met with criticism and anger after it was announced by former transport minister François Bausch. In December 2023, his successor, Yuriko Backes, promised the bus lines would be maintained for the time being, ahead of further discussions with representatives.

The OGBL trade union, which joined discussions in the hope of finding a solution, said it did not support Friday’s agreement to cancel the bus routes.
