Plans to abolish 21 bus routes which primarily served employees at large industrial businesses have been put on hold, according to the Ministry of Mobility.
New transport minister Yuriko Backes confirmed that the bus routes would be maintained for the time being, with plans to scrap them now on ice.
Backes said the Ministry planned to hold meetings with the syndicates representing the affected employees, as well as with Fedil on behalf of employers, before making conclusive plans regarding the bus routes. These talks should include alternative solutions, she added.
Last year, the government suggested bus routes serving sites such as Goodyear, ArcelorMittal, or CFL-Multimodal would be cut in order to save costs, drawing strong criticism from the unions.
