About a year ago, a body was discovered on land belonging to the US Army near Kaiserslautern. A suspect has now been arrested in the United States and extradited to Germany, the responsible public prosecutor’s office announced.
The 63-year-old victim and the alleged perpetrator were colleagues at an external company. The victim was at the location on 3 August 2024 to perform work on a building, where his supervisor later found him dead. As the cause of death was unclear, an autopsy was ordered, which concluded the man had died as a result of violence.
The suspect, who was 28 years old at the time, had only been with the company for two days. According to investigators, there was immediate tension between the two men. While he became a suspect shortly after the crime, he managed to flee to the United States.
Since his extradition, the man has refused to make any statement to the examining magistrate, according to the prosecutor’s office. He is currently in custody awaiting trial, and the investigation on suspicion of manslaughter is ongoing.
