Rumours have surfaced on social media about a fatal stabbing this weekend in Luxembourg City, but are they true?

A few days ago, a user commented on one of our social media posts, claiming that a fatal knife fight had occurred on Place de Paris in Luxembourg City – and that the press was deliberately ignoring the incident. We looked into the claim to clarify what actually happened.

What really happened?

On 13 April, RTL reported on an incident in the Gare neighbourhood that required the intervention of both police and emergency medical services. One person was injured in the altercation.

When we contacted the police for further information, they confirmed that the victim had been taken to the hospital, was conscious, and that their life was not in danger. A police spokesperson noted that visible traces of blood at the scene likely fueled speculation online.

In short, the rumors of a fatal knife attack are not supported by the facts. The press did not ignore the incident as it was covered the next day by RTL.

A violent incident did occur, but it was not fatal. The claim made in the comment was therefore inaccurate.
