One year after purchasing the 737-7 and 737-8 models, Luxair has placed a new order with Boeing, this time for the 737-10, the largest model in the 737 MAX series.
The new aircraft are a crucial step in Luxair's growth plans and the decarbonisation of its fleet, according to Luxair CEO Gilles Feith. Besides the operational savings, the planes have a 50% smaller noise footprint during takeoff and landing.
The flag carrier plans to operate its new 737-10 to offer passengers a minimum of 30-inch seat pitch. In this
configuration, the airline can fly up to 213 passengers on routes stretching 5,740 km.
The airline has ordered two of these aircraft and has secured an option for two additional units.
Luxair's regional fleet currently consists of 21 aircraft, including two Boeing 737-8s—one of which is leased—and eight 737 Next-Generation models. The airline currently serves 94 destinations, recently adding Rotterdam to its list.
