RTL Today
RTL and the centre for audiovisual content (CNA) have provided us with another glimpse into the past, this time focusing on the inauguration of the Moselle canal.
Le général de Gaulle au Luxembourg
Le général de Gaulle et la Grande-Duchesse Charlotte font un voyage fluvial pour l’inauguration de la Moselle canalisée.

In this week’s review, you can watch a piece that shows how the French statesman visited Luxembourg for the inauguration of the Moselle canal on May 26 1964. The occasion saw the official opening of the canal for inland water navigation, connecting a 270 km long distance between French city Thionville and German city Koblenz.

General de Gaulle, Grand Duchesse Charlotte, and President of West Germany Heinrich Lübke went on a cruise together that started in German town Apach and transported them to Trier to celebrate the inauguration. The entire project took seven years of construction work.
