From the archivesThe Emaischen festival in the 1950s

RTL Today
RTL and the centre for audiovisual content (CNA) have provided us with another glimpse into the past, this time focusing on the history of the Luxembourgish Easter tradition.
L'Emaischen dans les années 50
Un film de 1958 sur la tradition de l’Emaischen célébrée chaque lundi de Pâques dans la vieille ville de Luxembourg, et à Nospelt.

This week’s review shows the 1958 Emaischen festival. The popular event is usually celebrated in the old town of Luxembourg City and in Nospelt. The main attraction at both locations are the ‘Péckvillercher’, little earthenware whistles shaped like birds, traditionally exchanged between lovers and now shared more generally.
