The Union’s overall average is a mere 12%, and the only country to beat us (and they only just managed) is Denmark, at 33%. In third place is France, a few percentage points behind at 29%. That’s as a percentage of tourists nights spent in those countries in 2017.
The overall leaders, in terms of the share of nights spent camping in the EU, are France (a whopping 31%), Italy (14%), and the UK (13%). It would be rather hard for Luxembourg to compete in this category.. To put things into perspective, a total of 557,029,635 tourists nights were spent in France in 2017, compared to just 3,830,847 in Luxembourg.
Even if every last tourist who came here in 2017 had camped, we’d only make up 0.9% of the nights spent camping in the EU as a whole.
