Georges Albert, a student at the Luxembourg Hotel and Tourism School, won the prize for "best cocktail" at Spa in Belgium.

The 36th edition of the “European Junior Bartender Competition” took place at the end of January in Spa in Belgium. Candidates, all students in different hotel schools and under 23 years old, hailed from Belgium, France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.

The different tests highlight the variety skills bartenders have to master, whether it involves champagne, beer, coffee or cocktails. Competitors had to make and serve two espressos and two cappuccinos, uncork and serve half a bottle of Champagne or serve two beers on tap.

When it came to cocktails, this included two parts: mixing a classic cocktail drawn at random, and the creation of cocktail.

It was in this final segment that Georges Albert was particularly brilliant, winning the prize for the best cocktail. His creation consisted of Hendrick’s Gin, Chartreuse verte, elderflower syrup, lime juice, passionfruit juice, homemade lemonade made from matcha green tea, lime and fresh mint.

Across the entire competition, Georges Albert ranked sixth.
