Queasiness aside, it appears that people experience increased arousal when hungover.
Researchers at the University of Washington have concluded that people tend to have increased libidos when they have a hangover. The researchers explained that this is due to hormones and that people can be more aroused when hungover than when sober.
Although it sounds unlikely when considering the usual symptoms of a hangover, such as a headache, light sensitivity and even nausea, apparently the phenomenon does exist.
According to the study, men who still have alcohol in their blood streams tend to be more aroused. Similarly, alcohol increases women’s testosterone levels, which in turn increases their libidos.
This hangover arousal can also have positive side effects, as sex helps with headaches and reduces stress – assuming that you are not feeling too queasy to act on your impulses, that is.
