How many people live on our planet right now? How many babies have just been born and how many people have passed away? Worldometers has the answers.

The website Worldometers.info displays real time statistics from around the globe at a glance. It not only shows numbers relating to the current world-wide population but also shows statistics relating to governments and their spending on care, education or military. You can even find numbers about the environment (such as forest loss this year), food behaviour (under-nourishment and obesity), energy and general health.

Rapidly climbing numbers

Observing the world-wide statistics, it becomes abundantly clear that numbers are skyrocketing. There are currently more than 7 billion people on our big blue marble and the population of our planet is growing by the second.

It is similarly impressive to see the the numbers of babies being born while you sit in front of your computer screen.

Numbers of deaths are also displayed.

On the 23 March for example, more than 31 million babies have seen the light of day and 13 million people have forever left us. We can only give you relatively vague numbers; if you visit the website, you will see that the statistics are perpetually changing.

Not only pleasing numbers

Alone this year, more than a million hectares of forest has already been destroyed. Even in our modern world, more than 800 million people are yet to have access to a safe drinking water source and the statistics relating to CO2 emissions and toxic chemicals are similarly worrying, to say the least.

Apart from that, Worldometers hosts a myriad of other numbers: how many cigarettes have already been smoked this year, how any deaths have been caused by smoking or alcohol, how much money has been spent on illegal drugs and many more.
