Most articles and blog posts during the festive period focus on the big, well known Christmas markets.
They are of course amazing and we totally recommend them, but this time we would also like to offer you a list of the 'smaller', regional Christmas markets in and around Luxembourg that take place in small towns, villages or even castles and other venues.
TravelmatKanner has visited already many of the ones mentioned and we can assure you there is magic; lots of times undiscovered, or only known by locals that should not missed.
What I truly like about the smaller Christmas markets is that they demonstrate the community feeling intensely. Neighbors gathering together, locals coming together and proudly showing off the beauty of the place to its visitors. Local organizations and schools create Christmas decorations, Christmas trees and other handmade and local products with much love and dedication.
I think I will not say more…Once you visit smaller Christmas markets, you will understand what I am talking about here.

Steinfort Christmas Market / Stengeforter Chrëschtmaart
The 21st Steinfort Christmas Market officially opens its doors this Friday at 6 p.m. in the park between the town hall and the Villa Collart. A full program with activities (also for children) is offered.

This is a Christmas Market in the Ardennes Region that offers many nice shows and a parade. It is considered one of the most beautiful in the Ardennes area and lasts until 31 December.

Les feeries du Parc, Ciney Belgium
Considered one of the most illuminated smaller markets, Les Féeries du Parc also features an ice rink in the city centre of Ciney.
The festive atmosphere can be found at two locations in Ciney. One in the Parc Saint Roch and the other one in Place Monseu, which features the above mentionned ice rink.

Eupen, Belgium
The Christmas Market of Eupen is the oldest in Belgium and takes place this weekend: 9 – 10 – 11 December 2022

Waldbreitbach, Germany
This is a village in Germany that is approximately 2h20 away from Luxembourg, it's not the closest, HOWEVER we highly recommend it. The whole village is beautifully decorated and you can experience floating wreaths, a floating nativity scene and a very unique atmosphere.

Durbuy, Belgium
The Christmas market of Durbuy should not be missing from this list. You might not know but Durbuy calls itself the smallest city of the world! Also, this Christmas Market stays open after Christmas through to early January 2023. If you have not visited Durbuy yet, this is the perfect moment.
Geierlights, Germany
The famous suspension bridge in our region will be illuminated during the weekend of 9 to 11 December 2022.
