TravelMatKanner returns with tips on the best miniature parks to visit in Luxembourg's neighbouring countries.

Since my childhood, miniatures always fascinated me. Not only because they are cute to look at but because I believe it takes a lot of talent, attention and time to create them.

It is not very widely known, but within reach of Luxembourg there are quite a few miniature parks which I can assure you, the whole family will enjoy.

First, because they are quite remarkable and the craftsmanship behind them even more - children will have an interesting hands-on experience of how beautiful the miniatures are and how much love goes into the making of them.

Second, because it is fun to observe them and take fun pictures with the children. It is also an educational activity for children, they learn more about unique buildings and landmarks around the world, the different architectural styles but also about a form of art that must stay alive.

And third because they are quite magical…and we all need a bit of magic in our lives…don’t you agree?

Germany

Gulliver Welt, Bexbach

Open year-round and with free entry, this park is the perfect size for small children to walk around without getting too tired. Located in a beautiful park, stroller friendly, with beautiful trees, and a mini Japanese garden, this miniature park has lovely designs from around the world. One of the highlights of the park is the huge sequoia tree, which is very big and very beautiful.

Märklin World, Titisee

The Black Forest is a wonderful destination for families and not so far from Luxembourg for a road trip.

Situated beside Titisee Lake, Märklin World offers a variety of model trains and miniatures to enchant old and young alike, based on the popular toy range. More of a museum than a park, the attraction is sure to please train enthusiasts of any age.

Belgium

Mini-Europe, Brussels

Maybe the most famous miniature park for visitors from Luxembourg, Mini-Europe is also close to other major family attractions in Brussels.

Apart from the miniatures visitors can also enjoy the trees, flowers and bonsai trees that embellish the miniatures.
