Ever-controversial musician Morrissey has caused yet another stir, the same weekend after wearing a t-shirt with the words ‘F*CK THE GUARDIAN’ on it, following the musician’s dispute with the newspaper concerning their one-star review of his recent cover album. The newspaper has also criticised Morrissey for his support of the Islamophobic For Britain party. In response, Morrissey has described the Guardian as a ‘wretched hate-paper’.

Now, it appears that Morrissey’s merch stands not only feature signed copies of his own albums for $200, but also signed copies of albums by some of his favourite artists. The merch stand features signed versions of David Bowie’s ‘Aladdin Sane’, Patti Smith’s ‘Horses, Lou Reed’s ‘Transformerand Iggy and the Stooges’ ‘Raw Power‘. These signed-by-Morrissey albums all cost $300, so approximately €270 a piece.

Robert Ham, posting the image of the stand after Morrissey’s concert at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl Saturday on Twitter, highlighted the ‘absolute hubris’ of charging that amount for a Bowie album signed by Morrissey, whilst others mocked Morrissey for realising other artists’ work outvalue his own, even with his signature. Bizarre business decision, money-grabbing enterprise, or appreciating fellow artists? You decide. Capitalising on his dislike for the Guardian, the artist is also selling the ‘F*CK THE GUARDIAN’ t-shirt for $35.
