Some of the things likely to effect your thumbs in coming days, weeks, months.

1 - The Coming of the Nintendo Cinematic Universe

Nintendo appears to be expanding its entertainment reach far beyond gaming, with recent copyright filings hinting at a standalone Donkey Kong movie in development alongside a growing slate of cinematic projects for Mario, Zelda and other flagship franchises.

The move follows the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and fits within Nintendo’s broader strategy of transforming its IP into multi-platform entertainment. This pivot to film signals that Nintendo isn’t just chasing gaming profitability anymore, it’s targeting cultural immersion. The idea of a “Nintendo Cinematic Universe” may sound familiar, but for the company, it’s now a serious blueprint for building a long-term creative empire.

2-  Soulja Boy and the Handheld Console Controversy

Rapper Soulja Boy has once again entered the gaming hardware arena with a device called the “SouljaGame Flip,” a clamshell handheld that mirrors the design and specs of the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, down to the 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 865 processor and 8 GB of RAM.

The device was initially priced at over $400 but is now listed around $200, aligning closely with Retroid’s original pricing. Retroid has publicly stated that no licensing or rebranding deal exists, and their U.S. patent on the original device is still in force. With no official partnership, the matter raises serious questions about product authenticity, intellectual property and value for buyers.

3 - A Prequel in the Works for Saints Row

Original design director Chris Stockman - the key creative behind the 2006 classic Saints Row - has revealed that he’s been asked to pitch a prequel to the series under its current rights holder. Stockman has made it clear his aim is to “get back to the roots” of what made the original game entertaining: story-driven mayhem, gang culture satire and open-world play with edge.

While it’s still very early days, no development studio has been officially confirmed and no release date is set,  the mere involvement of the original creative lead has stirred excitement in the community that a return to form may be possible for the once-rebellious franchise.
