It's been a long time coming but alt-indie pop scousers The Zutons are back to prove they just can’t be killed, by announcing their first album in 16 years.
Recorded at Abbey Road and produced by old cohort Ian Brodie [The Lightning Seeds] and pop legend/uber producer Nile Rodgers, new long player ‘The Big Decider’ is due to drop on April 26th.
Featuring a more refined line-up of core members Dave McCabe (guitar, lead vocals), Abi Harding (saxophone, vocals) and Sean Payne (drums, vocals), bitterns out that third album ‘The Big Decider’ has been in the works since 2019’s “Who Killed…… The Zutons?” 15th anniversary tour.
With the band unsure if they still had what it takes, the tour offered an opportunity to build bridges, test pressure points and rediscover the energy and craft which made them one of the breakout acts of the 00s, and the catalyst for Amy Winehouse’s stratospheric rise to worldwide fame.
So, with their times of trouble behind them, an intimate tour of the U.K. has been announced for next year and we can only hope that it will eventually extend to a Grand Duchy dancehall so that we can all catch some of that Zuton fever.
In the meantime, check out the fabulous album trailer - featuring a preview of the deliciously ironic Play That Funky Music (White Boy) riff which opens single “Dreaming On The Dancefloor”.
