Celebrating the stage artsA new format for the Luxembourgish Stage Awards

Honouring and celebrating the arts of the stage, the Ministry of Culture and the Theatre Federation announced the Lëtzebuerger Bühnepräisser (Luxembourg Stage Awards), taking place on 25 September 2025, at the Mierscher Theater.

This year, there will be – for the first time since their creation – a joint celebration and presentation of the Theaterpräisser (Luxembourgish Theatre Award), the Kanner- a Jugendtheaterpräis (Luxembourgish Children’s and Youth Theatre Award), and the Lëtzebuerger Danzpräis (Luxembourgish Dance Award).

In addition, the Stage Awards will also feature 6 sub-categories for all things stage:

• • Best Children’s and Youth Production (awarded to a production by young artists)
  • Best Production (honorary award for any type of production)
  • Young Talent (awarded to a promising young artist)
  • Behind the Scenes (awarded to outstanding work in scenography, dramaturgy, costume, lighting...)
  • On the Stage: Acting, Dance & Music
  • On the Stage: Text, Concept, Choreography & Direction

Another new aspect of this year’s edition is the two-round format of the competition. In the first round, a jury, made up of a selected number of representatives of Luxembourg’s art sector, were asked to nominate three candidates and productions (from the two seasons preceding the competition) for each award sub-category.

This years’ jury is made up of:

• • Mirka Costanzi (theatre pedagogue)
  • Jérôme Konen (director of the Kinneksbond – Centre Culturel Mamer)
  • Anne-Marie Reuter (teacher, author, and editor)
  • Joël Seiller (hair and make-up artist)
  • Isabel Spigarelli (journalist and theatre critic)
  • Lis Trausch (member of the Cercle des Spectateurs des Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, and the Cercle des Spectateurs du Escher Theater)
  • Andreas Wagner (playwright and teacher)

Out of their nominations, a final selection of five candidates per sub-category has been chosen out of which a second jury appointed by the Ministry of Culture will designate the final laureates, as well as for the two national awards (Lëtzebuerger Theaterpräis and Lëtzebuerger Danzpräis).

The latter two award specific artists for their careers and their long-lasting effect on the Luxembourgish stage-performance scene.

Prize money for each sub-category will vary between 3,500€ and 4,500€, and 10,000€ for the two national awards.
