SpudBencer, one of Baus’ nom de plumes, is an electronic musician and DJ from Luxembourg. Having worked tirelessly to push progression in the Luxmebourgish music scene, Baus started producing electronic sound collages in 1996 as ‘project m’ before producing more bass driven music under his ‘in circles’ moniker.
In 2013 his track Sleep Less was used in a Calvin Klein in-store campaign.
Over the years Fred has shared stages with notable artists such as The Field, Vitalic, Digitalism, 2many DJ’s, Benjamin Damage, Compuphonic, KXP… and has featured on the bill of numerous festivals in France, India, Japan & China.
Though making the odd appearance here and there over the past 5 years, Fred is back as SpudBencer, “exploring a more minimal, repetitive sound to take the listeners on a trip”.
Baus would describe his output as being “dark at times but can be melodic and bittersweet at other moments”. Influences include Plastikman and the minimal techno approach of M_inus while also rubbing shoulders with the Scandinavian label Hypnus but, explains Baus "(it) explores a more ambient route”.
SpudBencer, says the press release from label TelaVivi Records “likes deep and repetitive music. SpudBencer can make you trip or dance. SpudBencer is not hip”.
MINIMAAL EP
Minimaal is a 6 track EP that takes the listener on a trip. Minimaal is a minimalistic track
reminiscent of Plastikman ‘s Consumed record.
It is an ambient techno track, driven largely by a deep bassline. It’s dark and mysterious in tone.
Noosphere is a simple, with only a few elements, yet energetic techno tune.
An Isolated Space is a trip to the northern countries, cold with beautiful winter lights.
Haunting and beautiful.
Halo is a soothing track driven by a piano loop and a heavenly choir.
Thoughts is a love song with Rome in Reverse’s voice blurring the lines between dream and reality.
Time Warp is a repetitive dance track with a distinctive bassline and metallic percussion.
