The briefing started with a look back at the year gone before offering a glimpse into the future. Due in large part to Covid, the last few years have been difficult for the industry, and Den Atelier hasn’t hosted a press briefing like this for several years.

Impressive even if it was not for the difficult circumstance in the industry, A-promotions organised a whopping 186 events from March this year until today, with 190,000 visitors across them. A-Promotion’s Laurent Loschetter took a moment to extend a heartfelt thank you to the greater Atelier team, who through what has been a very difficult time for the venue and indeed across the sector at large have worked tirelessly to keep the show running.

No more Pond

The Pond Eclectic festival will end its run, with the last edition held this summer past. Michel Welter said that had been “a great adventure”, but that the time had now come to invest in other projects, while acknowledging that politics played a small part in the decision to end the summer festival.

Siren’s Call - 24 June 2023

The next edition of the popular Siren’s Call festival was announced during the press briefing to take place on 24 June 2023, and will be headlined by Phoenix. The festival will take place in a format similar to what we have seen in previous years, and hosted by and at Neimenster Abbey in Luxembourg City - there is further information to come on this in a separate press briefing, and we will keep you posted on any developments.

LuxExpo as a music venue - Open Air

Morgan Gromy from LuxExpo joined Michel Welter and Laurent Loschetter from Den Atelier on stage, and together they also confirmed that LuxExpo The Box will be a major partner moving forward. Gromy said of the partnership that it is a “very exciting opportunity to promote Luxembourg,” not just for concerts, but cultural events broadly as LuxExpo is “perfectly situated .. and the potential is limitless.” Loschetter added that the tram - able to bring 400 people to the venue every 8 minutes - is a great benefit.

The trio also confirmed a number of acts that will perform at LuxExpo in the coming year as a part of Open Air, and the list is impressive:

  • Lizzo on 3 July
  • Arctic Monkeys on 4 July*
  • Paul Kalkbrenner on 7 July
  • Robbie Williams on 11 July

*This one may not surprise you, as the band already did the surprising by announcing the gig ahead even of the venue, forcing Den A to release tickets earlier than planned... and several thousand have already sold! So snap to it if you want some before they’re all gone.

Tickets will be available online from 10am Tuesday 13 December, and can be bought in person from 5pm Monday 12 December at Den Atelier. If you hop along to the latter, there will also be free coffee and Gluhwein!

Machine Gun Kelly and The Black Keys

Another big announcement came in the form of US rapper Machine Gun Kelly, who will perform at Rockhal on 13 June.

And, before we go, the editor currently before the keyboard loves The Black Keys - and as we already announced a few days ago, they are coming to Rockhal on 15 June 2023! Tickets for that will go on sale at 10 am on 16 December, so if you want to be right after me in the digital ticket queue.. get your coffee in early.
