Georges Goerens, one half of ENGLBRT, joined The Sam Steen Show on Today Radio on Thursday morning to speak about the band’s debut EP, how he met bandmate Niels Engle, and his musical development.

Goerens has been playing music in Luxembourg for fifteen years. His other two projects are Seed to Tree and Bartleby Delicate. ENGLBRT began in 2021 when Goerens first met Engle. At the time, he watched a session Engle recorded with another musician and the two immediately hit it off and began jamming. Soon, they became residents at renowned Kulturfabrik where they spent a month writing music together.

Initially Goerens wasn’t sure if he wanted to balance a third musical project and was instead thinking of adding Engle to a previous project as a drummer. But, after feeling their musical chemistry together, he realized the songs they were writing had a totally different identity than either other project he was a part of.

ENGLBRT is thus the culmination of all of Goerens many years of making music in different styles an genres. Seed to Tree is a pop group and Bartleby Delicate is much more experimental. ENGLBRT marries these two styles together, creating accessible yet playful music. Goerens says he can hear a “line of evolution” between Bartleby Delicate and ENGLEBRT.

On Monday 31 August, ENGLBRT will be performing at Rotondes for Congés Annulés. Opening for them is legendary local band Artaban. If you want to support local music, or simply learn more about it, then Monday night’s show should not be missed! Doors open at 8pm while the show kicks off at 8.30pm.
