Wheels of SteelLegendary rockers Saxon to play den Atelier on Wednesday 8 March

RTL Today
Legendary British rockers Saxon will perform at den Atelier on Wednesday 8 March, with RTL Today Radio's Dave 'DB3' Burrowes playing an opening DJ set.

Saxon’s links to Luxembourg stretch all the way back to 1980 with a live performance broadcast by none other than Radio Luxembourg. The band emerged from the ‘NWOBHM’, or New Wave of British Heavy Metal, a scene that launched the likes of Iron Maiden and Def Leppard to global success and caught the ears of younger rockers like Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield, helping to inspire the even heavier next generation of metal acts like Metallica.

Perhaps even more so than Maiden or even Judas Priest, Saxon’s sound has remained rock solid despite considerable line-up changes, with Biff Byford remaining their frontman throughout. With 25 studio albums to their name and a new covers album (More Inspirations) they’ve got plenty of anthems to blast out, from the iconic ‘Denim and Leather’ to new single ‘Faith Healer’.

And this Saturday on The DB3 Show you can hear Dave’s exclusive interview with Biff as they embarked on an extensive chat about Saxon’s long career. They take in anything from what it was like gigging with Ozzy on his debut solo tour, swerving the drugs endemic to the 80s metal scene, getting kicked off the tour by Rainbow, and the brief spandex period. We’ll also get an exclusive on which other iconic metal band Biff nearly joined!
