Influential electro duoKiasmos hit The A in September

Steve Miller
Kiasmos are made up of BAFTA-winning Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds, known for his unique mix of stripped-back piano and string compositions layered over electronic sounds, and Faroe Islands born Janus Rasmussen of electro-pop outfit Bloodgroup.

Based in Reykjavík, Arnalds’ work as a sound engineer on Rasmussen’s other projects helped the musicians discover a common love for minimal, experimental music; sending them on a collaborative journey of electronic sound creation and discovery spanning over a decade.

Since their first joint release back in 2009 - split-EP 65/Milo (released alongside fellow label-mate Rival Consoles) Ólafur and Janus have committed themselves to exploring the area in-between Arnalds’ more acoustic, piano-based solo work and Rasmussen’s synth-heavy electro pop.

After a string of various releases over the past 15 years they have garnered attention and respect from peers such as Bonobo, Lubomyr Melnyk and 65daysofstatic, and now they’re bringing their uniquely brilliant compositions and beats to den Atelier on September 24 for what will surely be a one-of-a-kind event.

If you’re unfamiliar with the unique sound of Ólafur’s work you can checkout Today Radio’s Stephen ‘Steps’ Lowe’s exclusive interview over on RTL Play, here and here.

And if that’s not enough to convince you of his genius, you can also listen to Ólafur’s take on the importance of 2nd track songs over on Today Radio’s Song 2 podcast.

Tickets go on sale this Thursday 11 April at 12 noon, and you can find them through den Atelier’s website.
