Via a Facebook post on the esteemed hall’s official account, this evening’s highly-anticipated performance of Scorsese’s Taxi Driver is scheduled to take place, but following latest advice from the Health Ministry, organisers are limiting the number of spectators. The Philarmonie’s concert hall has a capacity of 1,500 which means that in the event of a sold out concert, organisers are faced with the arduous task of essentially culling a third of ticket holders.
The Philarmonie has contacted all ticket holders (if you did not receive a call, contact + 352 26 32 26 32). This unusual move comes as a safety precaution, as the Facebook statement mentions the latest advice from the Health Ministry:
We would like to draw your attention to the general advice of the Ministry of Health concerning the COVID-19 virus: it is recommended that particularly vulnerable people (elderly people or those with health problems such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases or other diseases and therapies that weaken the immune system) do not attend the concert.We are also asking people who have visited the following countries or risk areas within the last two weeks to not attend the concert: China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Iran, Northern Italy (Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and South Tyrol), the French departments of Oise and Haut-Rhin and the German Länder of North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg.
People who are ill or not feeling well are requested not to attend the concert.
