Lilou Sour, frontwoman of rising Luxembourg alternative band Waffle Killers, joined The Sam Steen Show on Today Radio this morning to talk about the band’s journey so far, their creative plans, and of course, where that unforgettable name came from.
"We got the name because I always had waffles in my lunchbox at school", Lilou explained, laughing. It’s the kind of origin story that perfectly matches the band's offbeat charm and one that's clearly working. Since forming, Waffle Killers have made a big impression, most notably at Screaming Fields, where they walked away with four out of eight awards they were nominated for.
Their debut EP, Cool Things Are Not Cool Anymore, captures a sharp blend of attitude and playfulness, laced with indie-punk energy and clever lyricism. Lilou also revealed the band is already hard at work on their first full-length album, with hopes of releasing it by the end of the year.
Before that, fans can catch them live at this year's Out of the Crowd Festival on 19 April, a perfect stage for one of the most promising young acts on Luxembourg’s scene right now.
