Early Saturday morning, the American soul singer Angie Stone died in a car accident at the age of 63.

The singer's agent announced her death. The accident happened in Montgomery, Alabama as she was making her way to a performance at the CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore. She was traveling in a van, along with eight other people. She was the only fatality.
 
Stone comes from Columbia in the US state of South Carolina and began her musical career at the end of the 1970s as a member of the female hip-hop trio, The Sequence. Later she launched her own career as a solo artist. She's famous for hits like No More Rain (In This Cloud) and Wish I Didn't Miss You.

In 2001, the New York Times dubbed her the "Queen of Soul.' She was nominated three times for a Grammy. Her last album was released in 2023.
