Some bars in Luxembourg City have achieved legendary status by now, and Rocas Bar is one of them, celebrating its 15th anniversary on 23 November.
Teenage hangouts, catching up with friends home from University for the weekend, meeting your colleagues for end-of-the-week afterworks: Rocas Bar is the place to be, drawing a varied crowd in Luxembourg City.
Owner David Rocas joined Ethan Carey on the Drive Time show, talking about their upcoming anniversary celebration.
It's now been nearly 15 years since David Rocas opened the doors to his bar. Many musicians have been coming to his Thursday jam sessions: "I think we started it 14 years ago, in 2010. Well, it's a great event for musicians to get along together, get to meet other musicians." Bands who started jamming at Rocas have gone on to play major Luxembourg venues and festivals, and even cross into Europe.
David Rocas was born in Luxembourg, and together with his brother they had the idea to open a cultural place in the inner City, hosting a open theatre bar with concerts, DJs and house-party-style events.
For their 15th anniversary, they're planning a massive party on 23 November. "There's going to be a selection of what happens at Rocas during the whole year. A lot of DJs and some live acts. It will be amazing," says David Rocas. Genre-wise guests can expect electronic music but also funk and rock, as Rocas has two rooms.
Bands who want to perform at Rocas should just get in touch with the bar via Facebook Messenger, says David Rocas.
