Sam chats with George and Alfie from energetic post-punk band Deadletter about their new album Hysterical Strength, busking, and... chopping wood?

Our friends at Today Radio bring us yet another fascinating conversation, as The Sam Steen Show welcomes alternative indie band Deadletter.

Hailing from Yorkshire but now based in London, Deadletter is a breath of fresh air in the post-punk landscape.

The band consists of frontman Zac Lawrence, guitarists Will King and James Bates, bassist George Ullyott, drummer Alfie Husband, and saxophonist Poppy Richler.

Sam chats with Alfie and George as they discuss the band's journey so far, talk about their plans for the future, look back at some memorable gigs, learn lessons from playing weddings and busking and get philosophical about chopping wood.

The band has been building a loyal fanbase while extensively touring Europe and the UK for the past couple years. They are no strangers in Luxembourg, either: Deadletter has supported Placebo at their Rockhal concert, played at Usina and headlined a Rotondes show.

Zac Lawrence's strong stage presence and the band's tight musicianship blend perfectly into a groovy, energetic cocktail that is perfectly encapsulated in their album Hysterical Strength.

Deadletter are gearing up to play not too far from us, in Cologne, 29 October 2024 at GEBÄUDE 9.
