Marc Scheer, one of the coordinators for the Municipality's cultural department, has been diligently finalising preparations for the much-anticipated Festival de Wiltz, kicking off on 29 June. And here is some exciting news: If you stay tuned until the end, you can find out how you can win tickets to Altin Gün!
The Festival de Wiltz, debuting in 1953, proudly holds its status as the oldest festival in Luxembourg. One might even call it a cherished tradition. Despite growing up in Wiltz, Scheer recounted to our Today Radio colleagues how he was never able to attend the festival. From his home, he would hear great musicians like Miles Davis practice for their performances. It's no surprise that Scheer grew fond of the festival, even trying to sneak in as a child on multiple occasions.
The first time Marc Scheer finally got involved in the festival was in 2017 when he joined the cultural coordination team. This team is also responsible for organising other exciting cultural events, such as Nuit des Lampions, which takes place this year on 20 & 21 September - a must-see event you should also check out.
A mix of workshops, theatre, flamenco, and modern & contemporary concerts will be on offer between 29 June and 19 July at this year’s festival de Wiltz. The show kicks off with ‘An der Schwemm’, a hilarious and family friendly theatre piece, and potentially even Scheer’s favourite. Many more known names will be performing throughout the festival, such as Birdy, Baobab Orchestra and Dubioza Kolektiv. Returning to the show for another fantastic performance is Altin Gün, notorious Turkish-flavored psychedelic funk-rock band.
For those of us that are wondering where the oldest festival of Luxembourg is taking place: it is located in the Amphitheatre in Wiltz, right behind the castle - according to Scheer, it can’t and shan’t be missed. The event is well-connected, allowing you to bus, train, walk, drive or cycle to the event.
Now, did anyone say free tickets?
You can win two tickets to see Altin Gün, courtesy of Today Radio! Just answer the question: “Where is the band from?” by sending it to +352 621 525 000.
If luck isn't on your side, you can still score some tickets here.
Where will you find Marc Scheer to express your gratitude over the amazing experience you’re having? If everything goes as planned, Sheer will be at the bar enjoying a well-deserved glass of wine.
