Eighty artists will audition for the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027 at RTL's studios from 16 to 18 October, as the broadcaster selects candidates to compete for the country's place at Eurovision. The pool of candidates is around 50% larger than in the previous two years, with the increase linked to a change in the application process, allowing performers to enter without a finished song.
Candidates will first be assessed on their vocal ability, artistic identity, and stage performance. Those selected will advance to a separate song-selection phase, followed by a workshop to match performers with songs.
More than 300 songs have already been submitted, coming from both local and international songwriters and composers. Songs can still be submitted until 29 October, and shortlisted performers may also submit their own material.
The matching workshop is scheduled for early November, with finalists due to be announced in mid-November. They will then compete on the big stage at Rockhal on 30 January 2027.
Tickets for the event are expected to go on sale in early December.
Applicants must hold Luxembourgish nationality, have lived in Luxembourg for at least three years, or demonstrate an established connection to the country's cultural and music scene.
Nearly 70% of this year's candidates hold Luxembourgish nationality, including dual nationals. A further 20% qualify through residency and 10% through their cultural connections.
The field includes both returning applicants and first-time candidates.
Eurovision experts and industry professionals will oversee all three selection stages.
The winner of the Luxembourg Song Contest will represent the country at Eurovision 2027, taking place from 11 to 15 May in Burgas, Bulgaria.
