On Saturday evening, Austrian producer and DJ Parov Stelar visited Luxembourg as part of his European 'Theater' tour. In an interview with RTL, Stelar discusses his lengthy career in the music industry and his burning passion for music.
As part of his current European tour called 'Theater,' Parov Stelar performed a sold-out show at Luxembourg's Rockhal.
In an interview with RTL, the musician talks about how not much has changed in his music career: what drives his career forward after 20 years in the industry is his insatiable hunger for creating new music.
Stelar's current musical inspiration is, above all, old-school-French-electronic music. He personally describes his music as 'electro-swing' but in his opinion, his musical catalogue doesn't fit just one label.
Upon being asked who his audience is, Stelar answered:
"I don't think any artist just makes music for themselves. It's an overarching feeling that goes beyond yourself. And I believe the most beautiful part about music is that intersection where the listener meets the creator somewhere. And then you begin to wonder, who is this really for, us? To me this is the most exciting aspect of creating art and music. I'm not a banker who has a defined goal and expectations that are set in stone. As a musician I just can't help myself, I have nothing else, it's an incurable disease."
Before starting his concert, he declared to his audience that the music is the message and to express emotions, words fail, but music speaks.
