Here is an overview of Congés Annulés' first week of concerts!

Get ready to celebrate summer with Rotondes’ Summer Festival: Congés Annulés!

Congés Annulés is a month-long series of concerts and DJ sets hosted at the Rotondes courtyard. This year, the festival takes place from July 28 to August 23. Sam Steen spoke to the organizer of Cognés, Nick Przeor, about this year’s line up. Listen to their chat here!

Overview of week one

Night one, July 28‘s set features Francis of Delirium headlining, as well as Haru Nemuri and Fat Dog. Francis of Delirium is a Luxembourg based indie rock band influenced by the major grunge and indie bands of the 90s, but also much more recent acts like Car Seat Headrest and Phoebe Bridgers. Jana from Francis of Delirium was recently on the DB3 show. You can listen to their chat here.

Haru Nemuri is a Japanese singer/songwriter and poetry rapper, mixing rap, post-hardcore, electronica, and art pop to create a one of a kind sound.

Fat Dog is a UK based group creating an eclectic and energetic mix of blues, jazz, and punk.

Night two, July 29, features CHAiLD, Twin XXA, and Them Lights.

CHAiLD draws from the Italian and Portuguese music he grew up with to create haunting and ethereal pop songs with infectious beats.

Twin XXA is a Luxembourg based DJ and producer known for his detailed and complex sound design.

Them Lights is an R&B and soul duo highlighted by their unique incorporation of electronic beats and looping vocals.

Night three,July 30, features a single band: A Place to Bury Strangers. A Place to Bury Strangers is an indie rock band from New York formed in 2002. They have been referred to by critics as “the loudest band New York.” The group combines post punk, shoegaze, noiserock, and many other alternative genres to create loud and powerful music.

Night four, July 31, Luxembourg based electronic band ENGLBRT will perform with support from Artaban. Artaban is also a Luxembourg based electronic artist. Listen to a conversation between Max from Artaban and Stephen ‘Steps’ Lowe here.

Night five, August 2, features Gwendoline with support from Grand Écart. Gwendoline, a post punk band from France are cool, uncaring, and detached. Grand Écart is a solo Metz based musician that uses DIY synthesizers to create quirky and singular prog rock leaning songs.

Night six, August 3, the Luxembourg based bands The Cookie Jar Complot and Ice in my Eyes are double billed. The Cookie Jar Complot is a post rock instrumental duo creating music meant to be danced to! Ice in My Eyes brings back the nostalgic sounds of 80s rock.

On the final night of week one, August 4, the line up includes Sapphire Slows, Niels Orens, and GURL.

Sapphire Slows does almost everythings. She DJs, produces, and sings. Her hazy music is sure to entrance you.

Niels Orens and GURL are new faces on the electronic music scene, but you definitely don’t want to miss them.
