Ten films are part of the competition aspect of the Luxembourg City Film Festival, but many more are shown outside the competition. In total there are 16 films aimed at a young audience, and, of course, many more films “made in or with Luxembourg”. One of the highlights is the opening of the festival on Thursday evening, where Sebastián Lelio’s comedy “Gloria Bell” will be shown. The lead role is played by Julianne Moore.
During the festival, the audience will also have the opportunity to meet a number of directors, camera people and actors, among others British producer Mike Leigh who has been nominated for seven Oscars throughout his career.
A festival pass costs €30 and gives access to all screenings. However, even people with a pass will be required to reserve their seats ahead of time. A ticket for a single screening costs €7.
Last year, roughly 35 000 visitors participated in the Luxembourg City Film Festival. In order to make the festival even more accessible, the 2019 motto is “All Day Long”. Films will now not only be shown in the evenings, but screenings will also run in the mornings and afternoons.
