We featured this as a preview a few weeks ago, and The Gorge is now available to stream on Apple TV+. Now, while The Gorge is a thrilling blend of sci-fi and horror, taking audiences on a wild, otherworldly ride, it’s patchy, that’s to say it as captivating as it is unpredictable.

The concept revolves around a strange, otherworldly phenomenon that traps its characters in an isolated, eerie gorge where time and reality are distorted. Two highly-trained operatives (Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy) are appointed to posts in guard towers on opposite sides of a vast and highly classified gorge, protecting the world from an undisclosed, mysterious evil that lurks within.

They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. When the cataclysmic threat to humanity is revealed to them, they must work together in a test of both their physical and mental strength to keep the secret in the gorge before it's too late.

It’s a fresh take on the genre, offering a unique mix of suspense, tension, and mind-bending mystery that keeps you guessing from start to finish. The show does an excellent job of creating an atmosphere that’s equal parts terrifying and fascinating, making you want to see more of this strange world.

The performances are a standout, with the cast delivering some impressive work that elevates the material, though Taylor-Joy’s Russian accent is a little thick..

At its core, The Gorge is a fun, if sometimes goofy, sci-fi horror adventure that doesn’t take itself too seriously. While the plot occasionally veers into absurdity, it doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the series.

The mix of bizarre twists and genuine character moments make for a satisfying watch, and the pacing keeps things exciting without overstaying its welcome. It’s a show that delivers both thrills and laughs, making it an entertaining ride for fans of genre-bending television.
