A world of its own arises, filled with authors, specialised dealers, artists, musicians and visitors from every corner of the Greater Region.
With over 60 different authors and 8000 expected visitors, the event has established itself as one of the go-to festivals for your average graphic novel lover.
Running for its 26th year, the festival itself has surpassed its original concept, becoming a fully fledged folk festival and drawing in a throng of families alongside comic book aficionados.
And there is plenty to discover: old comic books, original drawings and figurines. According to the organisers, the festival’s popularity has surged in recent years, bringing in a host of international writers and illustrators who in turn extend the variety of work on offer, attracting more crowds.
One of the festival’s headliners is, of course, our very own Superjhemp. Or rather, his inventor, Lucien Czuga, who has been telling the national hero’s stories for 30 years. Czuga stated that by this point, Superjhemp was practically part of the nation’s branding.
Many lined up for a personal drawing or a signature, and the festival provides, in itself, not only a great opportunity for people to meet and support Luxembourgish authors, but also a platform for younger creators to showcase their work.
Aside from buying comic books and meeting authors, many who visit enjoy the festival’s easy and comfortable atmosphere, a good spot for a bargain and a place that has something on offer for everyone, whatever tickles your fancy.
