Fabrice Bisignano, a self-taught photographer who grew up in the Grand Duchy, captures the enchanting landscapes of Europe, from the serene nature of Luxembourg to the vibrant scenes of Portugal, as he builds his reputation in the world of art photography.

Fabrice Bisignano is a French-Italian photographer who was born in Esch-sur-Alzette. Today, he is based in Metz, but he still believes that his heart belongs to the Grand-Duchy, which he had the chance to explore extensively during his youth. "Luxembourg feels a bit like my garden", Bisignano explains as he continues to explore the beauty and the nature of the Grand Duchy, still in search of the perfect shot.

After pursuing a rather technical academic path by completing a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Bisignano became impassioned by art photography. Self-taught, he took online courses to refine his skills, and he has been a professional photographer for the past ten years now.

Making a living through art photography is not easy. So, Bisignano has to do commissioned photo reports or provide illustrations for businesses to make ends meet. This is also what allows him to continue travelling and discover new photogenic places.

However, his biggest pleasure is to photograph nature. He has already taken his lens all across Europe, capturing Italy, his country of origin, extensively as he regularly explores regions such as Tuscany, the Dolomites, or Emilia-Romagna.

Under the spell of Portugal

Bisignano recently returned from a trip to Lisbon, a city he discovered with the help of Portuguese photographers. "Portugal has a lot of potential for a photographer, it's a very beautiful country," Bisignano notes, while expressing appreciation for the wild beauty of the Portuguese coast.

Bisignano enjoys so-called blue hour photography when the sun is setting just below the horizon. Pictures are thus taken during a specific window of time that generally happens twice a day. The sky is then entirely filled with a dark blue colour that accentuates contrasts in photography. He finds pleasure in dark gloomy skies and wild nature. This is why Bisignano comes back to Luxembourg as often as possible.

"Luxembourg has everything, on the one hand there's the medieval side with the casemates, the Grund, just magnificent nature, and on the other hand there's the modern side with avant-garde architecture in Kirchberg."

Luxembourg counts numerous iconic and internationally renowned photography spots, such as the 'Schiessentümpel' waterfall, the symbol of the Mullerthal region, also known as Luxembourg's 'Little Switzerland'.

"I love coming back here, the nature in Luxembourg is marvellous and so relaxing. To me, this is one of the most beautiful places in Europe."

Today, Bisignano is building a reputation in the wider region. He has his own official website, his photography has been featured alongside 300 carefully selected photographs in YellowKorner gallery, and he will soon exhibit his work in Luxembourg.
