Dali theft
Crook lifts famous piece
A thief strolled into a San Francisco art gallery, stole a famous Salvador Dali piece and walked out.
The framed mid-'60s etching titled "Burning Giraffe" was on an easel at the front of Dennis Rae Fine Art's show floor.
According to Newser, the gallery's director was working a solo shift when the theft happened around 4:30 pm Sunday.
The director said he turned his back for just a second, and when he turned back around, the rare artwork was gone.
The gallery's surveillance camera wasn't on, but cameras from neighboring businesses did catch a glimpse of the thief.
