With MTINDO - Rebranding Africa, the nomadic contemporary art gallery Artscape has succeeded in bringing a remarkable exhibition to Luxembourg.

The exhibition features a selection of suggestive snapshots by Italian award-winning photographer Daniele Tamagni (1975-2017), a series about emerging looks and fashion styles on the African continent.

Mtindo is a swahili word and stands for "style", "stylish". Il also means "progress, something that is moving fast forward.

In their book MTINDO Rebranding Africa, Kenyan born Waridi Schrobsdorff and Daniele Tamagni, capture the young generation of African creative minds - a new generation of African style movers; musicians, artists, filmmakers, and writers who are one the move in their home country, Kenya.

My goal, says Waridi, was to show that there is more to Africa than the scenes of poverty and famine that are usually portrayed in the media, than the usual clichés: things are moving, styles are being created, in Kenya and elsewhere on the African continent.

The exhibition can be visited at the restaurant COME PRIMA, 18, avenue de la Faïencerie, L-1510 Luxembourg until 22 December 2018. The next guided visit will take place on 14 November 2018 from 6-7.30pm.

The book MTINDO - Rembranding Africa is available at bookshop Alinéa.
