This summer, there is a unique opportunity to explore parts of Luxembourg's fortress which are not usually open to the public!
The not-for-profit group d'Frënn vun der Festungsgeschicht Lëtzebuerg" (Friends of Luxembourg's fortifications history) is organising tours of the fortress of Luxembourg this summer under the theme of water.
The tours are organised on a regular basis from July until September and are an amazing opportunity for people to visit parts of the fortifications which are usually not open to the public. The tours are integrating the theme of water to show how the fortress had access to drinking water centuries ago as well as how water was used in the military defence of the fortress.
The tour will start in the Fort Bourbon casemates and then goes on down to the Pétrusse, where visitors will be able to see the remains of the Bourbon floodgates. The tour then goes on to further viewpoints, such as the Saint Quirin chapel. The tour ends at the "Icinaki", where visitors find out what exactly this strange word means.
