15 years after the passing of the great Luxembourg artist, his oeuvre is still as present as ever. The Michel Majerus Estate mangages the art works.
Majerus' last workroom in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, regularly exhibits the artist's work. The current exhibitions displays video installations of private recordings under the title "Michel Majerus Home Videos selected by Jordan Wolfson".
The artist's former workshop is hardly recognisable. Gone are the large, colourful paintings focusing on topics of 90s pop culture. Instead, the ground is covered by a grey rug and a lone projector is humming in a dimmed room. The video installation footage is projected onto a white screen.

To compile the footage, US artist Jordan Wolfson combed through hours worth of archive material. He stumbled upon videos detailing the preparations for the 1999 Venice biennial. Answering machine messages for friends and family and private moments of domestic bliss are included in the exhibition, which grants visitors an intimate view of the artist's work.

Barbara-Brigitte Mak of the Michel Majerus Estate explains: "The material was shot in his private rooms and shows Majerus' personal view on the world and the world of art in particular."
Majerus used a small hand-held camera to record things and moments that inspired and interested him. From this, Wolfson created a 10 minute homage to the late Majerus.

In cooperation with the art hall Bielefeld, another Majerus exhibition will be opened until the beginning of September. In Bonn, the works of the Luxembourg artist are currently part of a group exhibition, where his works can be seen until the end of October.
The video installation "Home Videos selected by Jordan Wolfson" is open until March 2019. The Michel Majerus Estate is open every Saturday from 11am to 6pm.
