A slam poetry event, an art-deco exhibition and the Rock am Knuedler are all taking place this week.

Open Air Poetry Slam

The Open Air Poetry Slam event in Niederanven will allow talented poets to have the opportunity to present their work to the public and go up against other poets. The audience will take part in deciding which poet was better and will vote with their applause.

The presenters of the event are Luc Spada and Michel Abdollahi. Most of the poets will be coming from Germany, but two Luxembourgers are also taking part.

The event starts at 8pm on Friday in Niederanven's Kulturhaus.

 "Art Déco Luxembourg" exhibition

Art Deco refers to the innovative style that evolved during the interwar years and covers all areas of applied art. You can find Art Deco in many different aspects of art, such as fashion, furniture, architecture, paintings and more. The exhibition, which is in the National Museum of History and Art, came about as the museum's Art Deco collection constantly grew. The museum would now like to make the collection visible to the public. The focus is pieces of jewellery made in Luxembourg alongside ceramic pieces.

The exhibition will go on until November. The below video, with Luxembourgish audio, provides a preview of the exhibition's pieces.

The Philharmonie's end of season party

The Philharmonie transforms itself into a massive dance floor once a year. That time is Saturday for the Philharmonie's end of season party. The following DJs and live acts will be playing at the party:

  • Carl Craig
  • Courtesy ((Ectotherm))
  • GlennUnderground Muzic
  • B2B Boo Williams
  • Re.You (Moon Harbour, Younion)
  • Sigha (Token Records UK)

The party will last seven hours and will have music from several genres.

Rock um Knuedler

It is time again for the annual Rock um Knuedler, taking place on (you guessed it) Place Guillaume II! The free open air festival will offer 10 hours of live music. Despite the name, there will also be stages on the Place de la Constitution and Rue Saint-Esprit.

The festival has been going on since 1991 and has featured many international musicians. As always, the focus is Luxembourgish talent.

The festival is taking place on Saturday.
