The education and culture ministries have unveiled a new initiative to connect young people and artists.

The new online platform aims to encourage children and young people to engage with culture by enabling interaction with artists. The new site, which will be available in French and Luxembourgish, was developed by SCRIPT - the research, pedagogical and technological innovation coordination service (service de coordination de la recherche et l'innovation pédagogiques et technologiques).

While the website will go live at the end of June, it was presented by education minister Claude Meisch and the secretary for state, Guy Arendt, on Wednesday.

Schools and 'Maisons Relais' will play an important role in providing young people with the cultural content available through the new hub. Teachers and other educators will be able to access cultural programs for children and teenagers through the website.

Meisch explained that educators will be able to use the platform to seek inspiration for lessons. The platform will also provide access to artists who are available to go to schools and organise activities for children.

In addition to the new platform, Meisch hopes to mobilise the whole education sector in both formal and informal education. To this end the ministry of education has been working with SCRIPT to organise a 'cultural education day' (Journée de l'éducation culturelle) on the 28th of June. The idea behind the cultural education day is to emphasise the cultural offerings available in Luxembourg, including art, literature, theatre, and music.
