Our readers continue to write in response to the #EverydayHeroes series. Here, Farasha pays tribute to her husband AND all those pilots working currently.
Hi RTL Today,
I've been an avid reader of yours from the beginning and first and foremost I'd like to thank the team for working tirelessly and bringing us the latest news. It's a trying time for everybody around the globe, I wish the team a good health amidst the Covid-19 situation.
Who is MY everyday hero? My husband, the cargo pilot.
He flies for a cargo company - and has been working very hard as of late to get supplies in and out of the country.
This also means working around the clock, going to countries that are on a lockdown and not having proper meals because of the shutdown imposed. Some countries don't even allow cargo pilots to go out of the hotel room, understandably.
Being far away from his family during the time where we just want to remain close to our loved ones, it's not easy. I am so proud of my husband.
He may not have realised it, but he is my unsung hero who goes out of his way to deliver the needs of the people.
While the whole world is advised not to travel and to stay home, cargo pilots are flying everywhere in the world to make sure our supplies remain unbroken.
I personally know pilots who choose to not come back home for fear they might put their family at risks - this means some don't even get to see their family.
Pilots and anyone in the aviation for that matter are going through a difficult time - as with the rest of the world.
Airlines are shutting down one by one, some people are being forced out of work, some are left on the edge not knowing what the future holds.
To my husband, to all the pilots who are affected, to the rest of the world regardless of which industry you're working in, this one's for you.
Tough times don't last, but tough people do.
Lots of love,
Farasha
