Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann competed in the first heat of the women's 1,500 metres on Saturday afternoon, finishing fourteenth with a time of 4 minutes, 14.63 seconds.
Only the top six athletes from each of the two heats progressed to the final, meaning Bertemes-Hoffmann did not advance. She missed out on a spot in the final by just under four seconds.
The 29-year-old had qualified for the European Championships based on her position in the world rankings for the 1,500m event.
