Swimming European Championships Rémi Fabiani narrowly misses semi-finals in 50m freestyle

Three Luxembourg swimmers were in action on Saturday at the European Swimming Championships in Paris, with Rémi Fabiani coming just eight hundredths of a second short of a semi-final spot.

Three Luxembourg swimmers competed in the morning heats at the European Championships in Paris. Rémi Fabiani and Ralph Daleiden Ciuferri started proceedings with the 50m freestyle.

Fabiani, who had already reached the semi-finals in both the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle, finished in 22.15 seconds, which was just eight hundredths of a second short of a place in the semi-finals.

He ultimately ranked 22nd out of 77 swimmers. Daleiden Ciuferri clocked 22.62 seconds, which placed him 48th

Next up was Finn Kemp in the 200m individual medley. Kemp completed his swim in 2 minutes, 3.72 seconds, finishing 37th out of 48 competitors.

The top sixteen swimmers from the heats advanced to the semi-finals, with qualification requiring a time just under two minutes.

The Swimming European Championships conclude on Sunday. Luxembourg's Lou Jominet will compete in the women's 400m freestyle on the final day.
