
At the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Toruń, Poland, Luxembourg sprinter Patrizia van der Weken secured a place in the semi-finals of the women’s 60m event after winning her preliminary heat.
Competing in the second of six heats on Saturday morning, van der Weken delivered a strong performance, crossing the line first in 7.14 seconds. She finished 0.05 seconds ahead of Tatjana Pinto and 0.08 seconds ahead of Minke Bisschops.
Under the competition rules, the top three athletes in each heat, along with the next three fastest times overall, advance to the semi-finals.
The 60m semifinals are scheduled for 8.14pm, with the final set for 9.20pm later the same evening. The championships can be streamed on RTL Lëtzebuerg’s website with commentary from Tom Flammang and Charles Grethen.
