A special 'Mario Day' event will be held in Junglinster this weekend dedicated to the world's favourite Italian plumber.

The free event, organised by POST Esports Masters and sponsored by Samsung, will take place at the Cultural Centre of Junglinster from 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 18.

Geared towards individuals of all ages and skill levels, Mario Day will feature a variety of activities from tournaments and challenges to game trials, a retro gaming space, and a deep dive into the esports universe.

The event aims to bridge the gap between esports enthusiasts and the general public. Nintendo's Mario games are the perfect link due to their competitive yet family-friendly nature, featuring classics like Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart, and the new Mario Wonder.

For the hardcore gamers, the highlight of the day is the Samsung Super Smash, a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament on the Switch, boasting a €2,000 cash prize (pre-registration required on postesportsmasters.lu). The top matches will be showcased on stage, and the entire tournament will be live-streamed on Twitch, complete with professional commentary.

Challenge seekers can win the latest Samsung smartphone by achieving the best time in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch. Additionally, Samsung earphones are up for grabs through a raffle for those who test their skills on Mario Kart Tour on their smartphones.

Newcomers to the gaming world will find plenty to enjoy, such as watching a high-level esports tournament, exploring the retro-gaming area (featuring Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Switch, etc.), and trying out the new Super Mario Bros. Wonder game on the Switch, with the opportunity to win a copy in a raffle.

The event also furthers the mission to develop Luxembourg's video gaming ecosystem and features collaborations with local associations such as RelyOn Esports, SweetSpot, Letz Smash, and Videogames.lu. The Luxembourg Esports Federation (FLES) and LESF will be on hand to provide information about careers, opportunities, and the growing esports industry.

Samsung is the main sponsor of the event and will continue its partnership with POST Esports Masters for the entire 2024 season.
